Anyone with an interest in the White Isle and its colourful characters will find this story fascinating.

A book was recently released discussing the life and times of one of Ibiza's most prolific figures, a worthy tale not often told. This all happened amidst being Grace Jones' consort for a year or so, dancing around like a muppet on stage just outwith her spotlight, completely invisible to the audience. He bought and sold an island, owned a marina on the Cote d’Azur and had been pals with far eastern royalty.A very different and interesting autobiography about someone whose lifestyle and vivacity should have made for a much shorter book, but somehow he continued to live through it all. I loved the way this man enjoyed his life to the full despite pissing off a lot of people along the way and not caring to much about it. Having visited Pikes Hotel since reading the book, I don't think he undersells it at all and from the book you can understand why the island has the reputation it does.

The Pikes years then, were Tony settling down and reigning it in a bit, which is pretty hilarious when you consider that he was still tearing the absolute arse out of it in the VIP room at the back of Ku well into his 60's. I questioned how much of his recounting of the ‘beautiful women and men’ he ‘bedded’ was actually true.Point being that at the very least you likely know that Harvey spends his summers there, manning the DJ booth on Monday nights in August and September. Jetsetting is ok if you’ve got lots of money, or a residual income, but if you’ve just got a lump sum, like I usually had when I set off, and nothing else coming in on a regular basis, then the cash runs out fast. The narration of this story is great, and the stories about the rich and famous especially Grace Jones and Kenny Everett’s are shocking and entertaining. But in truth it turned out to be an honest to God account of a remarkable place and a remarkable life lived to its full extent . It is at this point in which he decides that the white island is where he wants to settle down and set about building his very own private paradise, much of it with his own hands and sweat.

he sounded like women were more important than his children and he discarded them when it wasn't at his convenience, but that's just what you get from the story. well, now I know everything I’ve ever wanted to know and it’s made me determined I will visit one day and hopefully meet Mr Pike himself, such an iconic place! HE was the sex-mad playboy who provided a tropical retreat for A-list celebrities to indulge their wildest fantasies. I could not happen to think of Atlas Shugg a little bit when you think of Pike and the pride of his work he has in the hotel and the success which came from it.

I’m always interested in stories like this and there are some truly brilliant anecdotes in here (and some shocking ones too). ciò, yu se un bel personaggio, se queo che faceva i drink nel video de club tropicana, un gran simpaticon ma el iera anche un fio de na bona donna, el gaveva sempre voia de ciavar e tutte quee che ghe capitava a tiro le impeniva senza pietà ma ancha i omeni che non pensè.
