Description

Graham’s five vineyards are located in the Douro valley and all have the maximum ‘A’ grade classification. LBV (Late-Bottled Vintage) port is intended to provide some of the experience of drinking a vintage port but without the decade-long wait of bottle aging.

Since they are aged in barrels for only a short time, they retain their dark ruby colour and fresh fruit flavours. The Graham’s Port winery is one of the few in Porto to have its own cooperage team that is in charge of looking after each of the barrels, turning the understanding of wine and wood into an art form. Port"" wines produced outside of Portugal may be labelled with a vintage date, but rarely possess the quality and proven age-ability of true vintage port. Aged tawny port is a blend of several vintages, with the average years ""in wood"" stated on the label: 10, 15, 20, and 30 years are common. While Porto produced in Portugal is strictly regulated by the Instituto do Vinho do Porto, many wines in the U.With a light, orange-tinted amber colour, the nose shows an array of dried fruits aromas while the palate displays mature and concentrated honeyed fruit.

Particularly fine vintage ports can continue to gain complexity and drink wonderfully for decades after they were bottled, and therefore can be particularly sought after and expensive wines. Graham’s continue to make some of their Ports by traditional treading in stone lagares but also own a modern lagare in Malvedos. This wine’s contact with the wood of the cask works hand-in-hand with time to create one of our greatest wines. I've used Eton Vintners for many years and have always found the staff unfailingly helpful and wise. Thus each genuine port style has a corresponding, often very different, style that can be found in wines made outside Portugal. While it is by far the most renowned type of port, from a volume and revenue standpoint vintage port actually makes up a small percentage of the production of a typical port house. At the heart of Graham's Port is the famous Quinta dos Malvedos which was completely renovated in 2000 and is now equipped with 3 revolutionary robotic lagares that 'tread' the grapes. The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers. The wonders of wood: Graham's is one of the last port companies with its own cooperage team, who care for each cask individually.
