Description

The violence and sexual abuse grew in severity as more people, including his stepfather, were invited to use him in any way they chose. Crude jokes, dirty looks, the fodder that keeps seventh graders busy for weeks on end and is spread by the media into adulthood.

I know I cannot handle it, but looking at how young the boy on the cover is along with the title triggered me. Cry Silent Tears is a difficult book to read because it’s so hard to accept that a child was treated with such cruelty and abuse for years by his own family. A good depiction of anger turned inwards that is depression - the weeps of soul without comfort, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction.Until then, deep breaths and readjust my nurses hat and just keep going for the love of each other and keeping that dark cloud as far away from my kids as I can. A and C play, help, tie daddy’s shoelaces, carry his Zimmer frame to the car, all with a timid smile on their faces. I don't care for the narrator, and I don't care for the story that much (the blurb on the back cover makes it sound more interesting than it really is). Wishcraft by Barbara Sher and Annie Gottlieb because I'm 40 and still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up and because judygreeneyes is an awesome person and it was on my wishlist when I posted to her birthday thread in the RABCK forum.

At the age of 5, Joe witnesses the tragic death of his father and is left completely at the mercy of his violent mother and brutal older siblings.I just hope that whatever is happening inside your son is not as distressing as it appears on the outside - perhaps he is genuinely not feeling upset but it is a strange biological response to emotion - does it happen a lot when he's been laughing? This book was really disterbing for me to read and at times throughout it i literally had to force myself to read on. It makes you have sad thoughts and empty feelings too, but you know you don’t want your children to have to endure that too.
