Not surprisingly coming from a Club-Med country, these originate from lemon and bitter oranges, with the juniper seemingly relegated to somewhere in the chorus line. The London Dry links are also there somewhere in the form of a little coriander and cinnamon; though I didn’t feel that the spices lingered for the sort of long finish that distinguishes the best of the breed.

Larios 12 Premium Gin should already be known to many, as it is often to be found in the retail trade. However, this is not a negative feature, as the gin is of high quality and unique in smell and taste. The Gatling gun arrived in time to impact the American Civil War The Three Amigos Part III: The Final Shootout … In January the brand expanded its range of gins with the launch of four liqueurs, designed to give its Bombay Sapphire G&T a “floral or fruit boost”. They come in four flavours – rose, hibiscus, strawberry and raspberry – and are designed to add a pink hue to a mixed drink, which it said would cater to demand for “growing demand for personalisation”. This success caught the attention of the Larios family, who had moved to Malaga at the beginning of the 19th century. They became involved in distillation in 1863, having originally been involved in cane processing. The quality of the spirits made by Jimenez & Lamothe was recognised by The Larios family, who subsequently acquired the company in 1916.

In terms of its portfolio, In 2018, the brand launched Beefeater Pink, a gin expression infused with strawberries and targeted at “young millennials”, taking Beefeater London Dry gin as a base. It was the first innovation to be launched by The Gin Hub, a stand-alone entity that brings together three of Pernod Ricard’s gin brands: Beefeater, Plymouth, Seagram’s and Monkey 47, under one roof. Beefeater Pink was followed by the launch of Beefeater Blood Orange in 2019, underlining once more a trend for flavoured gins.Der Gin wird ausschließlich aus natürlichen Zutaten in einer 5-fachen Destillation hergestellt. Die Rezeptur des Larios Gins beinhaltet 12 ausgewählte Zutaten. Neben Wacholder gehören noch It may surprise you to know that the biggest drinkers of gin in Europe are not the English. No, it is the Spanish who hold that esteemed title, and globally Spain ranks among the big players in gin consumption year after year. Recently, I was taken to task by an anonymous commenter. The gist was as followed: you’ve called several gins the “best selling gin in the world.” Yes, many are. Gordon’s is one of the best selling gins in the English-speaking world, and the best-selling gin in the world in terms of overall numbers over the life of the brand. And then there’s Ginebra San Miguel, which in turn (in terms of volume, units sold) is the best-selling gin in the world, in terms of year over year sales. And then we have Larios 12 Botanicals Premium Gin, owned by Beam Suntory, which is the best selling gin in Spain, and in terms of units, among the best selling gins in the world year over year. But this impression is of their upscale offering featuring 12 botanicals. Botanicals

The nose is bright and awash with orange blossoms and coriander. Quite nice, very inviting, and decidedly contemporary. Last year the brand launched a gin flavoured with four distillations of wild juniper exclusively for the travel retail market at stores operated by travel retailer Dufry in Spain. Called Larios Provenzal, the gin uses a base of corn in its distillation “to give the liquid a smoother profile”, which is then flavoured with a selection of fresh Mediterranean citrus fruits. Owned by Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire is the world’s second biggest-selling gin, shifting 4.6m cases in 2019. And it’s been a busy year for the brand, with several product launches this year alone. Tanqueray, Diageo’s second-biggest gin brand, saw its organic net sales grow by 19% in 2019, while volume cases increased by 12.5% to 4.5m. This was the third biggest organic increase of all of Diageo’s international brands (behind Don Julio Tequila and Shui Jing Fang Baijiu), making Tanqueray one of its most powerful brands and reaffirming the continued pull of gin worldwide. The biggest-selling gin brand in Spain, Larios is owned by drinks behemoth Beam Suntory, and has stormed a path in recent years. Since 2016 it has doubled its volume sales from 1.2m to the 2.48m that it shifts globally today.Someone who really liked this type of gin will say that the bright citrus aroma and palate makes it a great mixer. Someone who is a fan of more traditional gins might be a little put off by its “one-note” and juniper as a bit player character. Overall, Larios 12 Botanicals Premium Gin In addition to its classic Extra Dry expression, launched in 1939, Seagram’s has also has a number of flavoured variants in its portfolio, including pineapple, peach, red berry, melon, lime and apple. Also owned by Pernod Ricard, Beefeater shifted 3.2m cases in 2019, making it Pernod’s biggest gin brand and one of it’s best-selling brands. In 2019, Beefeater reported a 12% increase in organic sales growth, joining the company’s other top growth brands which includes Royal Salute (17%), The Glenlivet (15%) and Malibu (13%). Overall, Beefeater was credited with “very strong growth” across all regions, “in particular in UK, Latin America and Africa Middle-East” over the course of 2019, while “triple digit” sales growth of the brand was reported in Brazil. The legendary Larios produces the biggest-selling gin in Spain, Larios Dry Gin, dominating an ultra-competitive market characterised by a consumer base that knows its juniper-led spirits. But the story of this brand is much older than the ‘second-wave’ gin craze the world is experiencing at this moment. This particular 200-year-old tale begins with Charles Lamothe, a French wine entrepreneur, and Fernando Jiménez, his Spanish associate, whose partnership led to the establishment of the creatively named Jiménez-Lamothe company. The brandy and wine it produced in its distilleries in Malaga and Manzanares didn’t go unnoticed for long, and gained a very respectable reputation.
